Unibep Group will build 44 communal apartments in one building for the district of Małkinia Górna. This is the first public-private partnership project in Poland implemented in the sector of communal housing. On June 22, 2021 in Małkinia Górna in the presence of the councilors of the municipality, local government and representatives of Unibep SA took place the official launch of this project.
- We like to cross boundaries and set new trends in construction and economy. We like challenges. The contract with the municipality of Małkinia Górna is historic both for us, i.e. the Unibep Group, and for the whole Poland - says Leszek Gołąbiecki, the President of the Unibep SA Management Board and at the same time the President of Unibep PPP. The consortium of these two companies won the procedure for the selection of a private partner for the project entitled "Construction of council apartments in the municipality of Małkinia Górna". The value of the contract is over PLN 12.5 million.
- In the public-private partnership model, we will build and manage the communal building for twelve years - adds Leszek Gołąbiecki. - It is a success of the whole team that worked on this process and proved that we are prepared to carry out projects with Polish local governments. We are convinced that soon there will be other proposals of contracts with local governments in the formula of public-private partnership.
Why did the municipality of Malkinia Górna decide to build council apartments in PPP formula? - This is a bold step for our municipality. We have become leaders in modern solutions in which we encourage private entities to cooperate and co-create the development of Małkinia Górna - says Bożena Kordek, head of the municipality. - This is also an opportunity for us to obtain funding for the implementation of an investment important to our residents. And we have great needs and we must look for different ways to satisfy them. I am glad that the three-year work has brought results in the form of signing the agreement. And we will do everything to ensure that the implementation of the project goes according to the adopted schedule, which means that in two years our residents who need support will move into modern apartments.
According to the assumptions, the apartments will be built using a modular wooden technology, applied by Unibep Group company - Unihouse SA. The advantages of this technology are: quick realization of the investment (time even half shorter than in traditional technology), high quality of workmanship (almost all elements of the building are made in Modular House Factory in Bielsko Podlaski), energy efficiency and use of ecological materials.
- We have extensive experience in construction of multi-family buildings, including buildings commissioned by local governments," says Marcin Gołębiewski, President of the Management Board of Unihouse SA. - We have already built several thousand apartments, mainly in Scandinavia - Norway and Sweden. Now it is time for the Polish market. We are glad that there is a growing interest in modular wood technology in our country. We also believe that the investment in Małkinia Górna in the PPP formula is the next step in the development of cooperation between Unibep Group and Polish local governments.
It is worth mentioning that Unihouse SA has completed several investments for Polish municipal companies, including ones in Katowice and Gdańsk.
