The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the PDD investment in Choroszcz is behind us

The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony at the investment in Choroszcz is now behind us. The ecological houses are built by Unihouse SA from Unibep Group.

On 3 March, the representatives of Polskie Domy Drewniane and the general contractor Unihouse SA (Unibep Group), together with the Mayor, symbolically hammered in a spade on the investment in Choroszcz, Rybacka Street. At the moment, preparatory works for the foundation slabs are taking place at the building site. Then, in the factory, the general contractor will construct houses in a timber-frame technology. Thanks to prefabrication, the construction time will be shortened by half. The completion of the construction is planned for the end of 2021.

In Choroszcz 10 single-family, detached, two-family buildings and one service building are being built. The whole investment will be carried out on the basis of modern prefabricated timber-frame technology, which guarantees, among other things, reduction of carbon footprint and fast construction. At the moment, preparations for the foundation slabs are being carried out on Rybacka Street.
- says Andrzej Schleser, Member of the Management Board for Commercial Affairs of Polskie Domów Drewnianych S.A.

Construction time reduced by half
The single-family houses in Choroszcz are constructed using a timber frame in the form of prefabricated panels. The main material will be constructional coniferous wood.

The construction of houses is made in our factory in Bielsk Podlaski. Only the final assembly and finishing of the buildings will take place on the construction site. Thanks to the optimization of the production process, compared to the traditional technology, work time on the construction site will be reduced even by half. What is important, the use of a renewable raw material, wood, in the skeleton will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, provide a friendly microclimate, good acoustics and energy efficiency of buildings. This type of construction works well in Scandinavian countries. We hope that we will also convince our countrymen that modern, prefabricated wooden construction is durable, precise, safe and environmentally friendly.

says Roman Jakubowski, Sales Director and Board Member of Unihouse S.A.

Ecological solutions

The houses in Choroszcz will be built in the energy standard applicable from January 2021. The new parameters guarantee that the buildings will be, among other things, well thermally insulated, with thermal bridge levelling and optimised in terms of energy consumption. The wooden structure will be clad on both sides with non-combustible materials, which will ensure the safety of residents. Mineral wool used in elevation lets water steam through better than foamed polystyrene which is usually used on Polish market.
Additionally, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery will be installed in the buildings. It lowers heating costs and has a positive impact on health by regulating air humidity. It also reduces dust that enters the house. The roof structure was designed to carry the weight of 5 kW photovoltaic panels. Care has also been given to the housing estate area, where there will be rainwater tanks and native plantings - trees and shrubs.

- Realisation in Choroszcz shows that prefabrication, ecological and low-energy solutions are becoming more and more popular. Modern, high quality wooden housing systems from Unihouse deserve wider recognition and use on the Polish market. Wood, the main material used to manufacture our constructions, is a very good building material, it is also renewable; additionally, we attach great importance to recycling used materials. Today's symbolic spade-drawing is another milestone towards the dissemination of this instant and safe, resident- and environment-friendly technology.

- concludes Marcin Gołębiewski, President of the Management Board of Unihouse SA Unibep Group
